Lijiang River Guilin is acclaimed as one of the most beautiful rivers in the world. The river and its karst landscape around are part of the South China Karst II which was declared the World Natural Heritage in June, 2014.
Lijiang River starts from Cat Mountain (Mao’er Mountain) in Xing’an, southward to the ending point of the confluence of the Lipu River, Gongcheng River and the river itself. When Lijiang River reaches Guilin City, it meets Fubo Hill, Diecai Hill, Liberation Bridge and Elephant Trunk Hill.

Fubo Hill are very popular among locals as they, especially the elder always do morning exercises, square dancing and singing in the two parks. Locals love to hike Dicai Hill at weekends.
Both of them offer the panoramic views of Guilin City. And Liberation Bridge is one of the best spots to admire the breathtaking night views in Guilin.
The Lijiang River flows past the Daxu Old Town. You can be able to view the amazing sunset at the river in the town. Continuing southward, the Lijiang River meets Mopan Hill which offers the great sunrise while the Mopanshan Pier has the amazing sunset.
Then, the river meets Cattle Valley, Crown Cave, Yangdi, Wave Stone Legend, Nine-horse Fresco Hill, Xianggong Hill, Pen Peak, Reflection of Yellow Cloth Shoal, Xingping Old Town, Snail Hill, Carp on the Wall, and Fuli Old Town in Yangshuo.
You could take a cruise tour from Guilin to Yangshuo on the Lijiang River. If you prefer to do a shorter cruise trip, it is recommended that you experience the private motorized bamboo raft between Yangdi and Nine-horse Fresco Hill or between Nine-horse Fresco Hill and Xingping. The landscape between Yangdi and Xingping is acclaimed as the most stunning views along the Lijiagn River.
Fuli Old Town by the Lijiang River in Yangshuo Countryside offers old buildings in the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912) to explore. In addition, it is well-known for the handmade painting-fans. You could experience the fan-painting class in the town.
If you’d like to enjoy the Lijiang River sunrise, the Elephant Trunk Hill, Daxu Old Town, Xianggong Hill, and Laozhai Mountain offer the chance to you. If you are interested to appreciate the Liijiang River sunset, the Laozhai Mountain in Xingping Old Town, Mopanshan Pier and Zhujiang Pier in Guilin, Wanshou Bridge (Longevity Bridge – 万寿桥) in the Daxu Old Town and Reflection of Yellow Cloth Shoal are ideal spots.
