From November to February, it is cold in Guilin. Therefore, you’d need to bring enough clothes to keep warm. From March to May, it rains much. It is suggested that you take blouses , thin coats and umbrellas with you. From June to October, you’d also need to bring umbrellas with you. As it is hot during the period of time, it is recommended that you take shorts, skirts, T-shirts and sunglasses with you in Guilin.

It is strongly recommended that you set a paid VPN on your phone if you’d like to keep in touch with your friends or families via Gmail, Facebook, or other foreign media. The paid VPN is more reliable than the free VPN in Mainland China as sometimes the free VPN may not work.
The transportation network in Mainland China is developing better and better, especially in the main cities and tourist destinations. Thus, you could get to Guilin by air or high-speed train from the main cities, such as Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Chengdu, Zhangjiajie, Xiamen, Hangzhuo, Wuhan, Changsha, etc.
Tap water in China is undrinkable. You could purchase the bottled water to drink. All of the bottled water in the supermarket is safe to drink.
If you would like to share your experience with your families and friends on the phone when you visit Guilin, you could get a local SIM card which can be able to offer the international service. The minimum charge of the card is from 50 CNY. The charge of the card with the international service will be a little more expensive.
The best months to visit Guilin are from April to October. But it is not suggested that you visit Guilin in July and August as it is always crowded with domestic Chinese tourists during the two months. It is during the summer holiday in China and many parents and their children will travel around the country.
If you would like to enjoy the night views in the City of Guilin in a less crowded surrounding, you could walk along the four city lakes and along the Li River for free.
It is the rainy season from April to July. If the water level in the Li River breaches a set level, all the cruise boat will be canceled. Thus, if you are planning to enjoy the cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo, it is much safer to visit Guilin between August and October.
Always, thousands of domestic Chinese tourists love to visit Guilin during the public holiday – May Day, Tomb-sweeping Day, National Day, Spring Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival. Therefore, if you want to get great experience during your Guilin Tour, please avoid exploring Guilin during the periods of time. What’s more, the pricing of the hotels are much higher than other times. And the traffic is much busier as well.
Guilin has various accommodations to stay overnight, including luxury hotels, boutique hotels and mid-range hotels, especially in the City of Guilin. You could stay overnight at Shangri-La Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, or Guilinyi Royal Palace. Shangri-La Hotel is located at the bank of the Li River while Sheraton Hotel Guilin stands at the bank of the Li River and it is close to Zhengyang Walking Street.
